Popcorn

While bombs blasted in Delhi, I watched a theatre act in Jabalpur. Titled Popcorn it was one man act. More on it but first on blasts. I returned to get the news on blasts in Delhi. I had no words to say, I was shocked and I was angry. My first reaction however was number of dead and then a list of friends who live in Delhi. As far as I know they are safe and I feel good. On the provious night I watched "Mumbai meri Jaan" - story of blasts and after effects, people recuperating from mental shocks and finally getting over with the trauma. I don't have any commentary on blasts or people behind it or people who suffered. I am without words and thoughts!

On my way to house I knew I am going to a write about well performed, one man act which had all the tastes of emotions and a critique of present India. Blasts have demotivated me but still am writing. It was my first theatre watch, so I have no benchmarks to compare with. The light effects were very nicely used. Bright, dark, red, blue, yellow. In the play the protagonist is a popcorn seller at the railway stations and he tells stories from his life. His start - I am the grass and I grow over you, over your deeds, I know what you do, what you think. Well, as soon as the guy talks about a story, the light effects would move him into that situation. Most instances from life were included - like Banks running after (the bank in play was "lelo ji lelo ji bank"), great Indian thinkers, corruption, new generation of girls (which is still too indigestible to great indian men) etc. The play had a serious commentary on Army personnels behaviour with civilians esp in the train. This guy had dreamt of serving nation by joining Army, had to pass a month in the city as recruitment got postponed. He sold popcorns for a month, during that he once went to the Army coach with the intention of giving them popcorns free of cost. They beat him to death, while he pleaded mercy, they shove away women and beat old men. This guy decided otherwise from there.

His performance was very good especially the emotional scenes. He described a mad woman on platform who was later on raped by a fruitseller. Every emotion of his was fabulous. I will say it was a good start to plays for me. I will watch more.

You know what shocking is Rock on, A wednesday, and Mumbai Meri jaan, have not yet got opened in Jabalpur. People are happy with some Singh is King.

Yesterday I had to bring CDs of these movies. Watched  "A wednesday", really fast paced, very good, fantastic plot and marvelous acting. Anupama and Nasseer steal the show. Watch for Naseer's dialogues towards the end.
You know I somehow guessed the motive of Naseer asking for release of terrorist.  Does this mean I can go for writing scripts?
Naseer character's name was never revealed in the movie and I think Neeraj Pandey conveyed the strongest message through this. If you think it is kind of movie (like krantiveer, gangajal, krazzy 4 types) where you get messages and thus refrain from watching it. Forget it. It is just 90 mins movie and you enjoy the acting and dialogues and pace.

I think I must commend Neeraj for this. Small things like towards end everybody trying to save Naseer, or just better beating Jimmy gave to a bad cop, the traffic cop admitting bribe, Naseer forgetting the grocery bag after the big act.. the abuses (very bold and free flowing)... add spices to the show. I will say very good directional debut.

Colors of Life

There are floods in Bihar. There was communal violence in Orissa recently. There were protest and agitations in West Bengal and J&K, some of which still continue. A secret letter in US made our media go humdrum. A guy (read Mr nanda) gets a jail term for a crime he commmitted almost 9 years ago. Media said its justice - "bhagwaan ke ghar mein andher nahin hai der hai.." bulshit it is not bhagwaan but our brilliant kingsize-lifestyle Judges and red tape. Please dont bring bhagwaan into all this. Oh! there was a sect of budhijeevi talking on the same lines.....
This is just a side of umpteen faces of life. And this is all Black.
Life is green and purple too. See the movies. See Big Boss. See Cricket. Go to facebook/orkut.

There is a big emotional color too and has a quick affect on human. Especially humans residing in India. Bihar floods is a great and latest example. Offices are donating salaries, NGOs have come up to help those who want a share sympathy (kind/materialistic) with the affected populations. Sadly our politicians still prefer aerial route to visit the areas. I still wonder how it possess a security threat and that how many times national leaders have gone to see a national disaster. Anyways you can not deny emotions in this country. A foreginer becomes emotional here and speaks out heart (read Gary Kirsten). Indians then prevent him from being so emotional.

I take pride in being little agnostic (dont want to be a atheist and a anatheist). Also it sounds zara hatke so.... But I wonder who manages all these colors in life and around. You are happy, you are sad, sometimes you want to cry becuase you are sad, and at times you cry because you are happy hmm.

Why I am writing all this? I just had a long day and I am all colorful, more on the darker side, more stressed and exhausted. The red is missing. I miss red.

Blogging

I started writing blogs in year 2005. I was inspired by few batch-mates at IIFM and very soon i realized that it is a wonderful medium to convey feelings, write things which you can not write in general. At present I write on India-developement blog and IIFM Blog. I am also listed in Sulekha blogs though I do not write there. Cerebrates is my personal blog.

This is my 101st blog and I am happy. In all these years I have written about issues related to my life, about places, books, movies and every time have received support from friends who have been kind enough to read and comment on the writings. Thank you guys!!
Don't have much to say, gonna celebrate blogging tonight!
